Oman is set to kick off the 2024 golf season with the International Series Oman at Al Mouj Muscat from February 22-25. This tournament, with a prize pool of US$2 million, will mark the beginning of a ten-tournament schedule for the season.
The schedule includes seven prestigious destinations and offers a total prize pool of US$23 million. As part of the pathway series to the LIV Golf League, sanctioned by the Asian Tour, the International Series Oman will be followed by tournaments in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Morocco, and Qatar. Additionally, the US$5 million PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers has been confirmed as an exciting addition to the 2024 schedule, following the announcement of the inaugural International Series Macau presented by Wynn in November.
Rahul Singh, the Head of The International Series, has announced that three additional venues will be revealed to finalize the 10-event series. This series is a part of the Asian Tour schedule and each tournament will have a minimum prize fund of US$2 million.
Singh expressed his satisfaction with the high level of competition among venues worldwide to host International Series events. He mentioned that there has been significant interest from various destinations and stakeholders since the launch of The International Series in 2022.
Singh emphasized the organization's dedication to providing opportunities for players globally and creating a clear pathway for them to enter the LIV Golf League. He also expressed excitement about the inclusion of prestigious events in the 2024 schedule.
The upcoming season of The International Series is expected to be a significant milestone, showcasing the organization's continuous growth and success. Singh stated that Oman serves as a suitable opening event for the season, while Macau presents a new opportunity for the organization in a region renowned for its golfing history. Additionally, the decision to return to Morocco after the inaugural season demonstrates the appeal of their events to destinations with exceptional golfing credentials.
