Mogadishu: On Sunday, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, welcomed Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, along with his delegation, in Mogadishu.
During their discussions, the Minister extended the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to President Mohamud, expressing wishes for his good health and happiness, as well as continued progress for the Somali people.
In response, President Mohamud requested the Minister to pass on his warm regards to His Majesty the Sultan, along with his best wishes for health and wellbeing. He also expressed hopes for further advancement and prosperity for the Omani people.
The meeting highlighted the strong, longstanding ties between Oman and Somalia, emphasizing the need to enhance collaboration across various sectors.
Additionally, a session of talks took place alongside the visit, featuring participation from Fardowsa Osman Egal, Somalia’s Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, and Mahmoud Aden Geesood, Somalia’s Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, along with other Somali officials.
The discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two nations and identified potential investment opportunities.
The Omani delegation included Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Information Technology, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Oman Airports, and various other organizations.
