Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, announced that the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Singapore are aiming to enhance their cooperation in the economic sector and promote investment from the private sector of both countries in various industries, particularly clean energy and green hydrogen.
During the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Singapore, specific areas for investment in clean energy were identified, and discussions were held regarding the production of green hydrogen by Oman and its global utilization to reduce carbon emissions.
Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi further mentioned that the Singaporean side has been briefed on the projects and agreements that Oman has undertaken in the clean energy sector over the past three years. Oman aspires to produce approximately one million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030 and around 8.5 million tonnes by 2050.
The Minister of Energy and Minerals also stated that a delegation from the Singaporean Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with representatives from companies involved in the consumption, transportation, and storage of green hydrogen, will be visiting Oman. Their purpose will be to assess Oman's capabilities in attracting and promoting investment in this sector, as well as to inspect existing facilities such as ports.
Furthermore, the delegation will explore the potential of participating in competitions for land allocation in the green hydrogen field or forming partnerships with Oman for the liquefaction and transportation of hydrogen. Additionally, they will focus on knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and studies related to the transportation of green hydrogen.
