Moscow: To advance the longstanding friendship and historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation, and adhering to the kind invitation from President Vladimir Putin, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik made a State Visit to the Russian Federation on the 21st and 22nd of April, 2025.
Official discussions took place between the two leaders in the Grand Hall of the Kremlin Palace, marked by a spirit of camaraderie and a commitment to further enhance bilateral collaboration across all domains, aiming to benefit both nations and their citizens.
Both parties expressed their contentment with the advancements made in their relations in recent years, stressing the necessity of building upon these achievements to enhance their partnership to greater and more expansive horizons.
A variety of shared concerns was deliberated upon by the two leaders, who sought methods to reinforce economic and trade connections between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation in key development sectors. They also highlighted the need to amplify joint investment prospects and to enhance communication and visit exchanges between the relevant authorities of both nations in support of ongoing cooperative initiatives.
Regarding international topics, the leaders assessed contemporary issues and emphasized the significance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and peaceful avenues, while fully adhering to international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. They shared perspectives on the situation in Palestine and reiterated the importance of achieving a fair resolution that safeguards the legitimate rights of the Palestinian population, advocating for a two-state solution that establishes a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with applicable international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The leaders also expressed grave concern regarding the devastating circumstances in the Gaza Strip, reaffirming their backing for global efforts to secure an immediate and enduring ceasefire, facilitate the urgent provision of humanitarian assistance to affected civilians, commence reconstruction processes, and ensure that displaced individuals return to their residences. They emphasized the necessity for the full withdrawal of occupying forces from the Gaza Strip and all other occupied Palestinian regions.
Demonstrating their dedication to fortifying friendship and enhancing cooperation, both leaders endorsed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding across various areas of shared interest, the creation of a Joint Economic Committee, and the mutual exemption from entry visas for each country's citizens.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his sincere gratitude to President Vladimir Putin, the Government of the Russian Federation, and its amicable citizens for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. His Majesty also extended an invitation to President Vladimir Putin to visit the Sultanate of Oman, which was met with a warm reception from His Excellency.
