Muscat: Today, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus formalized their collaboration by signing two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) focused on industrial cooperation and the areas of specifications, standards, conformity assessment, and accreditation.
The MoUs were executed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman and the Belarusian Ministry of Industry along with the Committee for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification of Belarus.
The purpose of these agreements is to foster the exchange of expertise and technology, promote the development of knowledge-based industries, encourage joint investments in industrial initiatives, and streamline the movement of industrial goods between the two nations. Additionally, the MoUs aim to enhance the exchange of information regarding national standards and technical regulations that could significantly influence trade relations.
On behalf of the Omani government, Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, signed the memoranda. The Belarusian side was represented by Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Alexander Efimov, Minister of Industry.
The signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry; Dr. Abdullah Masoud Al Harthy, Honorary Consul of Belarus to Oman; Hamoud Salim Al Tuwaih, Ambassador of Oman to the Russian Federation and non-resident ambassador to Belarus; Sergei Terentiev, Non-resident Ambassador of Belarus to Oman; along with other officials from both countries.
