Cairo— The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the 164th session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, which took place at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The delegation from Oman was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, who serves as the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.
The Arab Ministerial Council issued a strong condemnation of Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, which include killings, starvation, systematic destruction, and threats to the sovereignty of Arab nations. It highlighted that these violations represent a direct threat to Arab national security and necessitate a unified and resolute Arab response.
The ministers underscored the urgent need for an immediate halt to the conflict and the assurance of unhindered access for humanitarian, medical, and food assistance into the Gaza Strip. They urged the international community to fulfill its obligations and to pressure Israel, as the occupying force, to adhere to international law and humanitarian standards.
The Council commended the nations that have recognized the State of Palestine and called on the remaining countries to hasten their recognition in support of the two-state solution and the promotion of a fair and comprehensive peace process.
In this context, the Council passed a resolution aimed at protecting Arab national security, reiterating the rejection of interference in the internal matters of Arab states and the importance of respecting their sovereignty. It stressed the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and ceasing settlement activities, while also advocating for the placement of all nuclear facilities in the region, including those in Israel, under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency as part of efforts to promote the universality of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
