Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman, participated in the 10th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Endowments, Islamic and Religious Affairs, which took place on Sunday.
Dr. Mohammed Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, who led the delegation from Oman, emphasized that the gathering presents a unique opportunity to foster brotherhood, harmony, and unity among member states. He highlighted the necessity to explore new avenues for cooperation to enhance the welfare of GCC citizens.
Al Maamari addressed the pressing challenges faced by the region, attributed to global developments that are occurring at an alarming and disproportionate rate. He specifically mentioned the "unjust war" and the ongoing aggression against Al Quds and Palestine, underscoring the urgency of collective action to confront these swift changes.
In his discourse, Al Maamari cautioned against extremism, noting its departure from the tolerant principles of Sharia and its threat to security and development. He stressed the responsibility to safeguard societies from detrimental ideologies that distort the essence of the Islamic faith, which unites individuals in virtue and peace.
Furthermore, Al Maamari highlighted the importance of dedicating an "International Day for Endowments," which he believed would play a crucial role in elevating awareness regarding the significant contribution of endowments to social care.
The meeting also focused on the critical need for research and the sharing of experiences in endowments through workshops and conferences. Additionally, it called for the establishment of a GCC platform to accurately portray the tolerance inherent in Islam.
