Oman Partially Lifts Visa Ban On Bangladesh Nationals

Muscat: The Embassy of Oman in Dhaka has released a statement announcing that certain categories of Bangladeshi nationals have been exempted from the visa ban that was implemented in October 2023.

According to the embassy's statement, the relevant authorities in Oman have recently made a decision to exempt specific categories of Bangladeshi nationals from the visa ban that was issued in October 2023.

The exempted categories include family visas, visitation visas for Bangladeshi citizens residing in GCC countries, as well as visas for physicians, engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, all types of official visas, and high-income tourists.

The Embassy in Dhaka will be responsible for receiving and processing all applications from individuals belonging to the aforementioned categories. They will also coordinate with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) to issue the visas. It is important to note that all applications must be submitted with duly attested documentation to verify the eligibility of the applicant for the requested visa.

The processing time for applications will vary from one to four weeks, depending on the specific details of each application. Additionally, the embassy would like to assure all those concerned about the work visa ban that both Oman and Bangladesh have taken numerous steps to lift the ban as soon as possible.

The embassy further explained that the visa ban is purely a technical measure related to the regular review process of the foreign labor market in Oman. It is important to emphasize that the ban is not politically motivated.
