Oman Hosts Meeting Of Energy Regulators Regional Association

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman hosted the annual General Assembly meeting of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), which coincided with the association's two-day annual conference at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. The event attracted significant participation from regulatory organizations and member governments.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Mansoor Talib Al Hinai, chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation, addressed strategic topics such as the approval of ERRA's 2025 action plan and budget, operational and training programs for 2025-2026, and a review of 2024 meeting outcomes. Discussions also addressed prospective preparations for the 2026 conferences.

Assembly participants underlined the relevance of this high-profile event, which emphasizes Oman's increased involvement in regional and global energy management. They lauded the country's institutional capabilities and willingness to lead future energy discussions, establishing a standard for hosting specialized forums.

The agenda included presentations by ERRA committees, such as the Electricity Markets and Economic Regulation Committee, where Hassan Taqi Al Lawati, the committee's chairman, spoke on "Grid Investment, Regulatory Assessment Methods, and Incentives. "

The General Assembly meetings marked the conclusion of ERRA's yearly conference, which was hosted by Oman's Authority for Public Services Regulation.

The conference addressed major themes such as: Strengthening regulatory frameworks to boost competitiveness; Encouraging technological innovation and strategic investments in energy infrastructure; Addressing supply chain issues and encouraging regional cooperation; And exploiting market integration among member nations and global trade opportunities.
These talks were backed by 15 research papers submitted by more than 30 experts, economists, and researchers in energy and sustainable energy from Oman and throughout the world.
