Oman Cracks Down On Narcotics With Tough Penalties

The Sultanate of Oman has implemented strict regulations and severe penalties in accordance with Omani law for the possession, use, and trafficking of narcotics. This firm approach towards drug-related crimes highlights the country's dedication to upholding social order and public health.

The Public Prosecution (PP) recently stated online that individuals caught with narcotic or psychotropic substances, or any related paraphernalia, who refuse to provide a sample for testing will face a fine of RO 1,000 and a three-year prison sentence.

Furthermore, those convicted of supplying narcotic or psychotropic substances to others, or facilitating their illegal distribution, will be subject to a ten-year imprisonment and a substantial fine of RO 15,000, as outlined in Article 44/4 of the Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
