Muscat: The Environment Authority, representing the Sultanate of Oman, has successfully finalized the preparation of the comprehensive policy framework for the registration and issuance of carbon reduction certificates, in alignment with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
This final document, spanning 52 pages, outlines the Sultanate of Oman's strategy for achieving a carbon-free future. It aims to position Oman as a leading carbon trading hub within the Middle East.
Regarding the document, the Environment Authority has confirmed that it has garnered praise from international institutions and organizations with expertise in this area. The authority also highlighted that the framework will undergo a thorough review by all relevant stakeholders during a technical workshop scheduled for the middle of September in Muscat.
It is also important to note that the political framework for this document will be officially launched at the 29th Conference of the Parties, which is set to take place in November, in the capital city of Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan.
