Muscat: Oman Broadband Company, the foremost provider of fibre optic infrastructure in the Sultanate of Oman, has partnered with ST Engineering’s Urban Solutions division, a key player in smart city innovations, to launch a significant cooperation programme aimed at advancing smart city projects within the Sultanate.
This partnership aligns with the digital transformation goals and strategic vision set forth in Oman Vision 2040. The initiative will focus on establishing a robust digital infrastructure that can accommodate future needs, implementing solutions that improve residents' quality of life, and fostering sustainability in Oman.
The signing ceremony marked a pivotal moment, attended by distinguished officials from both Oman and Singapore, including Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, and K. Shanmugam, Singapore's Minister for Home Affairs and Minister of Law, highlighting the significance of this international partnership.
At the heart of the programme is a collaborative effort to explore and develop smart city initiatives that will enhance urban and community growth throughout Oman. Oman Broadband will lay the essential groundwork by deploying state-of-the-art fiber-optic infrastructure to facilitate extensive digital transformation. In addition, ST Engineering Urban Solutions will lend its specialized knowledge in critical areas such as smart mobility, smart utilities, and smart city operational platforms. This joint initiative aims to provide comprehensive smart city solutions that enhance urban efficiency and support sustainability objectives. This collaboration further solidifies Oman Broadband Company's leadership in the telecommunications and digital infrastructure landscape, paving the way for a more advanced and sustainable technological future for Oman.
