Oman, Bahrain Review Cooperation Opportunities In Various Fields

Muscat: The eighth session of the Joint Omani-Bahraini Committee took place in Muscat on Thursday, presided over by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, and Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During his address, Sayyid Badr emphasized that the eighth meeting of the joint committee underscores the profound depth of bilateral relations between Oman and Bahrain, further contributing to the expansion of cooperation opportunities across various sectors.

He also highlighted the significant progress in economic ties between the two nations. Trade exchanges up to August 2024 amounted to OMR118 million, and joint investments are experiencing growth in infrastructure, tourism, logistics services, industry, and the banking sector.

Furthermore, Sayyid Badr stressed the importance of advancing strategic partnerships and exploring new avenues for mutual benefits.

Following Sayyid Badr's remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain expressed his profound appreciation for the hospitality extended by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He also commended the continuous political cooperation between Oman and Bahrain.

Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani pointed out that the cooperation between the two countries encompasses coordination and consultations on regional and international issues and challenges. This cooperation, he affirmed, enhances the collective efforts to support regional peace and stability.

At the conclusion of the session, the two ministers signed the minutes of the eighth session of the Joint Omani-Bahraini Committee.

The session was attended by representatives from Oman, including Khalid Hashel Al Muslehi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskri, Head of the GCC Department at the Foreign Ministry, and Sayyid Faisal Harib Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Additionally, representatives from Bahrain attended the session, including Hamad Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Dr. Juma Ahmed Al Kaabi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Sultanate of Oman.
