New Integrated Complex To Host Fih Hockey5s World Cup Qualifiers

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth has recently received a state-of-the-art facility called 'Hockey Oman'. This complex will serve as the venue for the FIH Hockey5s World Cup qualifiers leading up to the Summer 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

During the period of 15 to 21 January 2024, eight international teams will compete in matches, vying for three coveted spots in the upcoming Olympics. Additionally, the new stadium will also host the Futsal Hockey World Cup "Oman 2024" from 24 to 31 January 2024.

With a seating capacity of over 5,000 spectators, the stadium can easily accommodate the tournament. Furthermore, all seats are removable and can be utilized in other stadiums. The integrated complex has been constructed in accordance with the latest standards and designs approved by the International Hockey Federation.

The complex consists of two playgrounds designed to meet international specifications and criteria, along with various training grounds and facilities such as offices, changing rooms, first aid rooms, referees' rooms, and security service and VIP offices, among others.

Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, expressed his belief that this new project will greatly benefit Oman's hockey championships and contribute to the development of hockey at both regional and international levels.

Dr. Marwan bin Jumah Al Jumah, Chairman of the Board of Oman Hockey Association, emphasized that the Oman Hockey Project marks a significant milestone in the history of Omani sports, particularly in the realm of hockey. He further stated that the project will prioritize the nurturing of young talent by establishing an academy to cultivate future stars in the sport.
