Muscat: The National Museum hosted a ceremony today to unveil the English edition of "My Journey Under the Sultans of Wisdom," authored by the late Mohammed Mohiuddin bin Abdulaziz.
The event took place under the auspices of Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, the Governor of Muscat.
Dr. Tariq Mohiuddin Mohammed Ghulam, the son of the late author, remarked, "The concept for this book originated in 2016 as a way to document a significant era in Oman’s history. Our father devoted himself to extensive research, writing, and compiling the book, even acquiring computer skills to type the manuscript himself."
He further stated, "The most remarkable aspect of our father's work on this book was his vision of it as a conduit for connecting younger generations with the challenges encountered by Oman’s leaders and citizens during a crucial time in its history. These experiences have been captured in this book, with the aspiration that they will motivate future generations."
The event featured a visual presentation that showcased the book's contents, which include the author's personal memoirs from his career spanning the 1950s to the 1990s, highlighting significant changes in the history of the Sultanate of Oman and his diplomatic efforts during his tenure at the Foreign Ministry.
This memoir chronicles the modern history of the Sultanate of Oman, guiding readers through a historical narrative from the 1950s to the 1970s. It recounts the lives of notable figures, depicts life in old Muscat, and analyzes key historical events that influenced the reigns of the late Sultan Said bin Taimur and the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
It is noteworthy that Mohammed Mohiuddin bin Abdulaziz dedicated 35 years to public service, beginning as a writer in the Foreign Ministry in 1959 and later advancing to a consultant role in 1994.
The event aimed to emphasize the author's significant contributions to chronicling the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Sultanate of Oman, as well as to illustrate his influence in enhancing international relations during a time of considerable historical change.
This book serves as an important resource, showcasing the wisdom and resilience demonstrated in the leadership of the Sultanate of Oman across different periods, thereby enriching the Omani cultural library.
Originally published in Oman in June 2022, the book is available in English and features archival photographs that capture pivotal historical events in the Sultanate of Oman's journey.
