National Defence College Launches 9th Parallel Programme On ICV Promotion Mechanisms

Muscat: The 9th parallel programme, named "Mechanisms for Enhancing Local Content," commenced on Sunday at the National Defence College (NDC) under the leadership of Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah Al Shidi, the Commandant of the NDC.

In his speech, Al Shidi emphasized that boosting local content (in-country value) across government, security, and private sectors has become a strategic need driven by global challenges and transformations.

He noted that realizing local added value can only be accomplished through comprehensive policies, a collaborative approach among various sectors, and ongoing support for knowledge innovation, domestic industries, and the localization of supply chains.

A presentation was given outlining the general aims of the parallel programme, particularly emphasizing the significance of enhancing ICV and its contribution to sustainable development.

The programme also showcases essential national, regional, and international practices and experiences in the realm of improving local content, while also addressing major challenges related to the collaboration between government and society. The event included suggestions and initiatives that promote ICV and inform integrated policies and practices across different sectors in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

The 9th parallel programme, which will continue until May 22, 2025, is part of the NDC’s national mission to develop the leadership abilities and skills of government leaders and senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF).
