Muscat: The Muscat Nights festival has turned the city into a lively center of activity, attracting thousands of visitors to its various venues.
Among the most thrilling events was the MENA Drift Championship, which took place at the Oman Automobile Association Arena on Saturday.
The arena was filled with enthusiastic fans, their faces aglow with the brilliant lights and the thunderous sound of engines, as they watched some of the region's finest drivers showcase their skills in high-speed drifting.
The championship featured 32 professional drivers from the Middle East and beyond, representing countries such as Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, India, Belarus, and El Salvador.
The competition was intense, with drivers pushing their cars to the edge on demanding technical courses. Ultimately, Omani driver Ahmed Al Ameri emerged victorious, while Nasser Al Harbali from El Salvador took second place, and Omani driver Tariq Al Shihani secured third.
The award ceremony took place with the support of Faisal al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Ahmed Al Hamidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality. They were joined by Brigadier Jamal Al Tai, chairman of the OAA, along with numerous officials and drift enthusiasts.
The distinguished guests praised the championship's success and its contribution to elevating Oman’s status in the global motorsport community.
In addition to the thrilling competitions, Muscat Nights has proven to be a tremendous success, drawing large audiences to various locations throughout the city.
The festival commenced on December 23, 2024, and will continue until January 21, 2025, featuring a diverse range of activities suitable for all age groups.
Key attractions include the Flower Festival at Qurum Natural Park, showcasing breathtaking floral displays and drone performances; theatrical shows and a heritage village at Al Amerat Park; and a drift track accompanied by fireworks at Naseem Park.
Seeb Beach has emerged as a popular destination, offering beach football, drum performances, and magic shows.
The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre is hosting the ‘Celebrate Every Story’ event, featuring beloved characters such as Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo. Furthermore, Wadi Al Khoudh is providing adventure activities, including zip lines and 4WD challenges.
Muscat Nights highlights the city’s dedication to offering a variety of engaging experiences for both locals and tourists. The festival not only celebrates Oman’s rich cultural heritage but also demonstrates its ability to host world-class events, reinforcing Muscat’s status as a leading destination for entertainment and tourism in the region.
