Muscat Municipality showcased its efforts to transform Muscat into a smart and sustainable city at COMEX 2024 in accordance with its objectives for complete digital transformation of electronic transactions.

Electronic Services Portal

The portal offers a range of services related to modern building systems. One of these services is the registration request service for consulting offices, which aims to organize and authorize offices that provide architectural and structural engineering consulting services. Additionally, citizens can easily and conveniently access maps and request additional copies of plans through the portal.

Another service provided is the address updating service, which focuses on updating survey drawings and commercial building data in the event of a sale. This service contributes to the creation of an accurate database for Muscat Governorate.

The electronic certification service for residential rental contracts simplifies the legal process for disputes related to rental contracts, as well as regulations for commercial and industrial shops, and landlord-tenant relationships. Through the electronic services portal, beneficiaries can also apply for permission to carry out afforestation activities beyond plot limits by submitting the necessary documents electronically to the Customer Services Department.

The Unified Municipal System

Muscat Municipality's comprehensive smart electronic services system demonstrates its commitment to keeping pace with technological advancements and enhancing service standards. The smart city's central control hub features a road and lighting monitoring system, aligning with the goal of creating a smart and sustainable urban environment. The road monitoring initiative, a key undertaking, utilizes sensors and monitoring equipment to promptly detect traffic volume and accidents. This system showcases geographical maps of Muscat Governorate, pinpoints areas of traffic congestion, and oversees lighting information, ultimately boosting maintenance effectiveness and cutting down on expenses.

Smart Lighting System

The Muscat Municipality is currently undertaking a project aimed at replacing the existing lighting infrastructure in key areas and streets with energy-efficient LEDs. This initiative is in line with their strategy to minimize electricity consumption and encourage the use of environmentally friendly alternatives. So far, the project has successfully replaced more than 24,000 traditional lighting lanterns with LEDs, resulting in centralized control over the lighting network, reduced maintenance expenses, and improved system functionality.
