Mumbai: On Thursday, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani, unveiled the "Jio AI-Cloud Welcome Offer," which promises to provide Jio subscribers with an unprecedented amount of free cloud storage space.
This initiative, slated for a Diwali launch this year, is designed to make cloud data storage and AI-powered services accessible to a broader audience across India, Ambani articulated during the company's 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday.
"I am delighted to announce the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome Offer. Our esteemed Jio subscribers will now enjoy access to up to 100 GB of complimentary cloud storage, enabling them to securely store and access their photos, videos, documents, and all other digital content, along with their data," Ambani declared.
To facilitate the adoption of AI, Reliance's telecommunications division, Jio, is in the process of developing an extensive suite of tools and platforms under the initiative named "Jio Brain."
"In an effort to streamline the adoption of AI, Jio is in the development phase of a comprehensive suite of tools and platforms that cover the entire AI lifecycle. This initiative is aptly named Jio Brain," Ambani elaborated.
Ambani also highlighted Jio's contributions to the digital transformation of India.
"Jio has played a pivotal role in transforming India from a 5G-dark to a 5G-bright landscape, establishing one of the most advanced 5G networks globally. Our Jio True 5G service has also achieved the distinction of being the fastest 5G service globally. Within a span of two years, over 130 million customers have embraced Jio True 5G," Ambani shared.
He emphasized the importance of making AI accessible to all, stating, "The true potential of AI lies in its accessibility. With our vision of AI Everywhere For Everyone, we are dedicated to making AI models and services available to every individual in India at the most affordable prices. To achieve this, we are laying the foundation for a truly national AI infrastructure. Our plans include the establishment of gigawatt scale AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, powered by renewable energy, in a reflection of our commitment to sustainability and a greener future," Ambani concluded.
Ambani also highlighted Jio's status as a leading patent holder in India.
"Jio stands as one of India's leading patent holders, boasting over 350 patents in 5G and 6G technologies. These patents are instrumental in securing Jio's position at the forefront of global innovation," Ambani noted.
He further shared that last year, Reliance filed over 2,555 patents, with a focus on bio-energy innovations, solar and other green energy solutions, and high-value chemicals.
At the Reliance AGM, Akash Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), expressed his enthusiasm for discussing a new service under development that simplifies the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as effortlessly as making a telephone call. He referred to this innovative service as Jio Phonecall AI, which facilitates the integration of AI into every telephone interaction.
Ambani elaborated on the capabilities of Jio Phonecall AI, stating that it is capable of recording and storing any telephone conversation in the Jio Cloud, and subsequently, automatically transcribing these calls, thereby converting them from audio to text. Furthermore, it has the ability to summarize the content of the call and translate it into another language. This advancement enables individuals to easily capture and retrieve significant audio conversations, thereby making them searchable, shareable, and comprehensible across various languages, all with just a few simple clicks.
