The "Public Policy Preparation Guide" serves as a roadmap for policymakers in Oman to create effective public policies.
It outlines the various stages involved in preparing, analyzing, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating public policies. These steps are based on a professional framework that incorporates principles, methodologies, technical tools, and necessary frameworks to ensure the quality, applicability, and efficiency of public policies.
The guide is intended for senior managers and experts in the public sector responsible for policy development, as well as researchers, analysts, public policy advocates, and individuals interested in the public policy-making process.
Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, the Minister of Economy, emphasized the importance of developing public policies professionally to keep up with the rapid changes in economic, social, political, and security landscapes globally.
Government institutions aim to enhance the economy, improve performance, direct development efforts, and achieve balance, sustainability, and resource optimization when formulating public policies, the minister elaborated.
Experts from the Ministry of Economy delivered a visual presentation during the workshop to explain the rationale behind public policy, highlight key features and methodologies for drafting policy documents, discuss the endorsement process, and present various models of the 'policy paper'.
