Muscat: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has officially entered into a mining concession agreement with Al Tamman Indsil FerroChrome Company for exploration and mining activities in concession area No. (22-D) located in the North A’Sharqiyah Governorate.
This concession area spans approximately 790 square kilometers and features a variety of ophiolite rocks that suggest the presence of valuable ores, including copper and chromium.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company is obligated to implement a comprehensive exploration program within the first two years. This program will encompass topographic and geophysical surveys utilizing remote sensing technologies, as well as the creation of detailed geological maps covering a significant portion of the area.
Additionally, the program will involve precise geochemical and physical analyses, along with an extensive drilling initiative that aims to complete up to 250 boreholes, each with an average depth of 35 meters.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman by Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Dr. Roman Lorf, representing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Tamman Indsil FerroChrome Company.
