Doha: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Cyber Defence Centre, represented the Sultanate of Oman at the third meeting of the GCC Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee, which took place in Doha.
The delegation from Oman, led by Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, focused on Communications and Information Technology, was instrumental in the discussions.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to review the GCC Cybersecurity Strategy and to inaugurate a platform designed for the exchange of cyber threat information among member states.
The Committee commended Oman for its initiative in organizing the inaugural GCC Hackathon for the Development of the Cybersecurity Industry on September 1, 2024, and for its role in hosting the Regional Cybersecurity Week from October 28 to 31, 2024, in Muscat.
Dr. Al Shidhani underscored the importance of fostering cooperation, which he believed would significantly contribute to the enhancement of cybersecurity measures across member states.
The meeting was graced by the presence of the GCC Secretary-General and experts in the domain.
