Salalah: On Wednesday, an exhibition titled "Made in Salalah Free Zone" was inaugurated in the Wilayat of Salalah to commemorate Omani Industry Day, celebrated annually on February 9.
This exhibition is part of the Salalah Free Zone's (SFZ) initiatives aimed at boosting industrial investments and enhancing the competitiveness of Omani products. The SFZ is focused on developing state-of-the-art infrastructure and creating a flexible, appealing business environment.
The event featured participation from 32 industrial companies specializing in pharmaceuticals, food production, and petrochemicals. It highlighted the latest products and innovative solutions, showcasing the diversity within the Omani industrial landscape.
Additionally, the exhibition included specialized workshops aimed at developing industrial skills and improving quality and productivity standards.
Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Tabouk, CEO of Salalah Free Zone, emphasized that SFZ is dedicated to empowering national industries and enhancing their capacity to penetrate regional and global markets by bringing together prominent Omani companies in production and manufacturing.
Tabouk noted that SFZ currently hosts 41 industrial projects occupying over 6.2 million square meters of leased space, reflecting significant growth in the industrial sector, which accounts for 60 percent of total investments in the zone.
He further stated that the total investment in Salalah Free Zone amounts to OMR4.7 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 40 percent over the last five years.
Moreover, approximately 3,096 employees have been directly hired, achieving a 9 percent annual growth rate and an Omanisation rate of 34 percent.
