Macron Thanks Oman For Release Of French Citizen

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his appreciation to Oman for its pivotal role in ensuring the safe return of French citizen Louis Arnaud on Thursday.

Arnaud, a banking consultant in his thirties, was detained while traveling through Iran in 2022 and subsequently sentenced to five years in prison on charges related to national security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman welcomed the agreement reached between Iran and France, which led to Arnaud's release. He was transferred from Tehran to Muscat for repatriation.

Oman, in a statement released by its Foreign Ministry, conveyed its gratitude for the positive atmosphere that characterized the discussions between the two allied nations.

Upon his arrival at Le Bourget airport near Paris on a small aircraft, a visibly fatigued but smiling Arnaud greeted Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne before embracing his parents, as shown in televised footage.
