Khareef Dhofar Championship For Traditional Weapons Shooting Begins

Salalah: The Khareef Dhofar Championship for Traditional Weapons Shooting began today at the shooting range of the Command of the Sultan's Armed Forces in Raysut, Salalah. This event is organized by Dhofar Municipality as part of the activities associated with the Khareef (monsoon) season and will run until 29 August.

The competition includes over 1,900 participants from different age groups competing in various shooting events that are part of the championship program.

The championship consists of six primary competitions, with highlights including skeet target and heavy rifle target events, heavy rifle plate shooting, skeet plate shooting, and a challenge cup competition.

This year, a new category has been introduced – "heavy rifle targets with telescopic sights" – aimed at expanding participation and enhancing the competitive spirit.

The championship showcases Dhofar Municipality's commitment to promoting cultural heritage and emphasizing traditional weapons shooting sports, which attract significant interest and involvement from diverse segments of society.
