Muscat: Karwa Motors, a subsidiary of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and Qatar Transportation Company, has announced the introduction of a new category of buses, specifically designed for intercity travel.
These buses have been designed to accommodate 45 passengers, in accordance with the Gulf standard specifications that are approved for buses operating in the oil and gas sector.
On Tuesday, the company celebrated the delivery of two of these buses to a leading transportation company in the Sultanate of Oman.
Karwa Motors stated that the delivery of these two intercity buses is a significant milestone in introducing this bus category to the local market, as there is a high demand from both local companies and individuals who are interested in utilizing this mode of transportation.
With the introduction of this new bus category, Karwa aims to expand its presence in both the local and regional markets. This will also enhance the production capabilities of the Karwa Motors factory, which is located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), in order to meet the growing demand for "Karwa" buses. These buses have already proven their success during the Qatar World Cup 2022.
In a press statement, Karwa Motors revealed that these two new buses are the first of their kind to be introduced into the Omani market. Additionally, there are pending orders from a group of local clients, which are scheduled for delivery in the coming months.
