Muscat: On Monday, joint committees consisting of members from both the State Council and the Shura Council convened to address contentious articles within three draft laws submitted by the Council of Ministers. These laws include “The Individual Income Tax,” “The Financial Law,” and “The Law on Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.”
During the meeting, the committees engaged in a thorough discussion regarding 30 articles of contention in the draft “Individual Income Tax Law,” 21 articles in the draft “Financial Law,” and 22 articles in the draft “Law on Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.”
The disputes arose from both the original drafts and new provisions introduced by the Shura Council.
Ultimately, the joint committees achieved agreement on all disputed articles. They will present their findings for consideration in a forthcoming joint session of the State Council and the Shura Council.
