Japanese Mission Begins Its Digital Heritage Inventory Project

Muscat: The Japanese mission has commenced its supplementary season for the digital heritage inventory project, as announced by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. The mission aims to document archaeological sites and establish a comprehensive database of these sites. The project involves the active participation of the Department of Archaeological Sites in Bat, Al-Khutm, and Al-Ain in the Wilayat of Ibri.

Furthermore, the Department of Heritage and Tourism in North Al Batinah Governorate, in collaboration with the Sohar Fort Museum Department, recently organized a lecture on the findings and excavations from the first season of the archaeological mission at Sohar Fort and its surrounding area. Professor Derek Kennett from the American University of Chicago presented an overview of the season's most significant results and discoveries.

During the lecture, attendees also had the opportunity to explore a mini exhibition showcasing the most important archaeological finds.
