International Conference On Dengue Fever Vector Control Kicks Off In Muscat

Muscat: The inaugural "First International Conference on Vector Control Interventions for Dengue Fever" commenced on Tuesday in the Muscat Governorate.

This two-day event is meticulously organized by the Muscat Municipality, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The ceremony of commencement was presided over by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, the Minister of Health, with attendance by members of the Royal Family, ministers, and Dr. Jean Jabbour, the Representative of the WHO in the Sultanate of Oman.

A diverse array of specialists from across the globe are participating in this conference. The lineup includes distinguished international speakers from the WHO and the US Centre for Disease Control, alongside various health and environmental organizations.

The conference will feature four plenary sessions dedicated to the review of experiences and the deliberation on strategies to mitigate the vectors of dengue fever.

The agenda of the conference extends to the discussion of vector-borne diseases, the prevention and control of the virus vectors (Aedes mosquito), and the latest advancements in this domain.

Furthermore, the conference aims to explore enhanced methodologies for developing national capacities to combat disease vectors. It will also delve into technological advancements in this field and strategies for establishing the concept of Integrated Vector Management (IVM).
