India And Oman Strengthen Maritime Defence Relations

The Ministry of Defence announced that the 6th edition of Staff Talks between the Indian Navy (IN) and the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) took place in New Delhi from June 4 to 5.

The discussions aimed at further enhancing the defense relations between India and Oman in the maritime sector.

The RNO delegation was headed by Cmde Jasim Mohammed Ali Al Balushi, DG Ops & Plans, while Cmde Manmeet Singh Khurana, Commodore (FC), led the Indian delegation.

The ongoing series of Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks highlights the strong bilateral ties between the two historical maritime neighbors, as mentioned in the press release.

Throughout the Staff Talks, both parties addressed mutual maritime security challenges, emphasizing the need for increased interoperability at sea. They also covered topics related to operational cooperation, information sharing, Maritime Domain Awareness, training, meteorology, hydrography, and technical support.

Additionally, the delegation visited IFC-IOR in Gurugram and met with VAdm Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, Indian Navy.

Oman is a key partner for India in the Gulf region, and the regular conduct of Staff Talks is crucial in strengthening naval cooperation and enhancing the existing partnership between the two Navies, as per the press release.
