HM The Sultan Gives Audience To Prime Minister Of Iraq

Salalah: Today, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah.

This meeting occurred during the Iraqi Prime Minister's two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the audience, His Majesty the Sultan and the Prime Minister engaged in an official session of discussions.

The discussions focused on various aspects of cooperation and partnership between the two nations, especially in the areas of energy and investment. Additionally, they explored ways to enhance collaboration that benefits the peoples of both Oman and Iraq.

The session of talks was attended by several dignitaries from the Omani side, including HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, who serves as the Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, the Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, the Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, the Minister of Finance; Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, the Head of the Private Office; Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, the Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (who is also the Head of the Mission of Honour); Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals; and Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, the Charge d’Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in the Republic of Iraq.

On the Iraqi side, the talks were attended by Dr. Fuad Hussein, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Eng. Hayan Abdul Ghani, the Minister of Oil; Atheer Dawood Al Ghurairi, the Minister of Trade; Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, the Governor of the Central Bank; Hamid Al Shatri, the Head of the National Intelligence Service; Qais Saad Al Amri, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Sultanate of Oman; Dr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, the CEO of the Iraq Fund for Development; and Eng. Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Governor of Karbala.

It is important to note that the Prime Minister of Iraq arrived in Oman earlier today. He, along with his delegation, was welcomed at the private airport in Salalah by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.

Upon his arrival, the guest was guided by HH Sayyid Shihab to the honor dais, where the national anthem of Iraq was performed.

The guest and his delegation were also greeted by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, the Minister of Finance, Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, the Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Head of the Mission of Honour), Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Qais Saad Al Amri, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, the Charge d’Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in the Republic of Iraq, senior military officials from the Governorate of Iraq, and members of the mission of honour.
