Muscat: The Emir of Kuwait, HH Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, arrived in the Wilayat of Duqm, the Governorate of Al Wusta, today to attend the opening ceremony of Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries. This visit is part of the Emir's state visit to Oman.
Leading the welcoming party for the Emir was His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. Upon the arrival of the Emir's jet at Duqm Airport, His Majesty the Sultan personally greeted the guest at the foot of the ramp.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan were several dignitaries, including HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, HH Sayyid Taimour bin Asa’ad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Oufi, Head of the Private Office, Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), Hussein bin Abdul Latif, Advisor at the Private Office, Sayyid Dr. Sultan bin Ya’rub Al Busaidi, Advisor at the Private Office, Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mussalam Al Kithiri, Governor of Al Wusta.
Following the formalities, His Majesty and the Emir proceeded to the motorcade, accompanied by two rows of guards of honor from the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), and headed towards the refinery.
A line of Omani and international students from A'soud Global School in Duqm stood on either side of the road, proudly waving the flags of Oman, Kuwait, and their own nations.
As the motorcade of His Majesty and the Emir reached the entrance of the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries, a crowd of citizens from the Governorate of Al Wusta gathered to express their joy and extend a heartfelt welcome. They enthusiastically chanted songs and slogans, creating an atmosphere of warmth and excitement.
