Muscat: The Directorate General of Health Services in the South Al Batinah Governorate has initiated the first phase of the National Survey on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) throughout the wilayats of the governorate. This survey, which will last for two months, is designed to collect essential data regarding the prevalence of NCDs and their effects on public health.
Dr. Rashid bin Saeed Al Saadi, the Acting Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services in South Al Batinah, emphasized that the survey will concentrate on conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic respiratory disorders. Additionally, it will evaluate related risk factors and potential health threats facing the community.
The information gathered will be instrumental in developing strategic health initiatives, preventive strategies, and community programs aimed at mitigating the spread of these diseases. The survey aims to improve public health, lower risk factors, and enhance overall wellbeing, thereby providing a clearer understanding of Oman’s health environment and aiding in the implementation of effective interventions.
The initial phase of the project includes field visits to refresh population cluster maps, setting the stage for the subsequent phase. This next step will involve filling out disease-specific forms, performing laboratory tests, and taking physical measurements to deliver a thorough assessment of the community’s health status.
