"He Will Return In Short Term": Manchester United Coach Ten Hag Provides Injury Update On Luke Shaw

Manchester: Erik Ten Hag, the head coach of Manchester United, has provided an update on the injury status of left-back Luke Shaw, expressing confidence in his return within a short period.

"He will return in short term": Ten Hag has shared an update on the left-back's condition, indicating his belief in Shaw's swift recovery. Shaw was substituted off during the first half of their match against Aston Villa.

Prior to his recent injury, Shaw missed the initial three months of the season due to an injury. However, he will not be sidelined for the Manchester United's opening game of the Premier League 2024-25 season against Fulham on Friday. Ten Hag anticipates a quick return for Shaw.

"I think he will return in the short term. It doesn't take long. We are looking forward to that, Luke Shaw is a very important player for our team. He is massively important, so we want to get him back as soon as possible, but we can't force this process," Ten Hag stated during a pre-match press conference, as reported by the club's official website.

Despite Shaw's absence, Manchester United's defensive line has been strengthened by the addition of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The pair, who have recently joined from Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, are expected to feature in the Old Trafford match against Fulham.

"Issues are there, but it's not about those who are not available. Same as last season, it's about who is available, and we can put out a strong team. We will do that. [De Ligt and Mazraoui] will be in the squad, and Harry Maguire will be in the squad as well," Ten Hag affirmed.

"We are not 100 per cent, but we have to go from game to game to improve and to get higher performance levels in the team and in individual players. We will see how quickly we can go with this process," he concluded.
