The General Directorate of Muscat Municipality has successfully finalized the "Green Park and Walkway" initiative in Maabela South, located in the Wilayat of Seeb.
Spanning an area of 3.4 square kilometers, this project is set to benefit a significant portion of the community.
Engineer Musa bin Salem Al Saqri, the Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs at the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Seeb, stated that the initiative aims to deliver sustainable services to the community, offering a natural environment that promotes physical and recreational activities. This will enhance the health of residents and provide a space for families to gather and unwind.
Al Saqri further noted that the project was executed as a community initiative by a private sector company in Oman, reflecting a partnership and social responsibility between public and private entities, under the oversight of Muscat Municipality in Seeb.
As one of the largest parks in the Wilayat of Seeb, the park's pathway extends from the east of Al Noor Street to the west of the old car market.
Al Saqri elaborated that the project features various facilities catering to diverse community needs, including accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Key amenities include a sports walkway and a bicycle path, each measuring 3,400 meters, pedestrian overpasses, designated play areas for children, fitness equipment, multi-purpose sports fields, a skateboarding area, as well as several rest zones, restaurants, cafes, and designated spots for food trucks. The park's green spaces have been designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal and scenic views of the area, complemented by adequate lighting. The project was developed with a focus on quality and sustainability standards.
The proposal for this project aligns with the municipality's vision of creating environments that promote health and contribute to the development of modern urban strategies. Additionally, this initiative stems from various trials conducted by the municipality in multiple locations, aimed at optimizing the use of open spaces that are well-suited for such endeavors.
