Grand Mufti Praises Amerat Club's Withdrawal From Tournament Involving Israel

Muscat: His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the esteemed Grand Mufti of Oman, has expressed his admiration for Amerat Club's decision to withdraw from an international sports event that featured an Israeli team.

In a formal statement, the Grand Mufti conveyed his satisfaction with Amerat Club's principled choice to abstain from participating in a sports competition that included a team representing the Zionist entity. He commended the club for its decision to stand in solidarity with the oppressed populations in Gaza and Palestine, describing it as a commendable act. "We extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the club and its management for their steadfast commitment to this ethical stance," he stated.

Furthermore, the Grand Mufti highlighted the significance of unity among Arab and Islamic nations, noting the growing awareness among the youth of Oman. He emphasized the call for cooperation and unity within the Islamic and Arab brotherhood, urging the mobilization of collective efforts and resources to confront the entity that has been accused of disregarding international conventions and human rights. "It is imperative for the Arab and Muslim communities to unite and confront this entity across all platforms to ensure its defeat and prevent its resurgence," he declared.

The Grand Mufti also called upon Arab and Islamic societies, as well as international organizations, to adopt a similar approach. "We encourage societal forces and official entities within Arab and Islamic countries to emulate this stance in their respective domains. Additionally, we appeal to global movements to bolster their efforts against this entity utilizing all available means," he concluded.

In light of these sentiments, Amerat Club has recently announced its decision to withdraw from the Beach Soccer Club World Cup, scheduled to occur in Italy in the near future. This decision was made in response to the widespread public demand in Oman for the club to refuse participation against the Israeli team, Rosh HaAyin, in support of the Palestinian cause and the people of Gaza, who have been subjected to nearly a year of conflict.
