Muscat: Represented by the National Programme for Government Digital Transition (Tahawul), the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has today announced the conclusion of the registration process for the initiative, codenamed “Governorate Ambassador for Digital Transition”.
This program is designed to enhance community awareness regarding smart digital services and solutions within the Sultanate of Oman, emphasizing their significance in facilitating the transition to digital lifestyles.
A total of over 520 volunteers, both Omani and non-Omani, have registered for this initiative, as reported by Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Kharousi, the Director General of Digital Transition and Sectoral Empowerment at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
Eng. Al Kharousi highlighted that the selected ambassadors will undergo a rigorous training program to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively serve their communities.
The final selection will consist of 66 ambassadors, each representing a different governorate in Oman. These ambassadors will be divided into three groups: the "Initiator" group, comprising individuals with foundational experience and understanding of digital transition; the "Advanced" group, which includes participants with moderate experience and a deeper understanding of digital technologies such as data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, electronic applications development, and cloud computing; and the "Specialist" group, which includes individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in digital transition, including academic and professional qualifications in the field.
The roles of these ambassadors will vary based on their level of expertise, with responsibilities ranging from spreading awareness about digital services and encouraging the adoption of smart applications to introducing target segments into programs for electronic payment systems and other advanced technologies.
