Ibra: On Monday, the Ministry of Health celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Al Nama Hospital project in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The project, which is currently underway, has a total cost of OMR56.05 million.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Sultan Salim Al Habsi, the Minister of Finance, and attended by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, the Minister of Health.
Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, the Undersecretary for Planning and Health Organization, stated that as of the end of 2023, the Ministry of Health oversees a total of 193 health centers, 21 health complexes, and 50 hospitals.
He further mentioned that these facilities provide a combined total of 5,024 beds and deliver high-quality healthcare services to the citizens.
Al Mandhari highlighted that the Ministry is currently in the process of establishing nine new hospitals across different governorates of Oman, which will contribute an additional 1,799 beds.
Eng. Yousuf Yaqoub Ambu-Ali, the Adviser to the Minister of Health for Engineering Affairs, presented an overview of the Al Nama Hospital project. He stated that the hospital will cover a vast area of 428,000 square meters, with the main building consisting of a ground floor and three additional floors spanning a total of 42,000 square meters.
Ambu-Ali also mentioned that Al Nama Hospital, scheduled to be completed within 30 months, will feature 152 beds, outpatient clinics, and a wide range of medical specialties. These specialties include an accident and emergency unit, a radiology unit, a physical therapy unit, a nephrology unit, and a psychiatry clinic. Additionally, the hospital will have a day care department, a dental clinic, surgery wards, and internal medicine units.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the Ministry of Health has scheduled another significant event - the groundbreaking ceremony for Samayil Hospital in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Ambu-Ali, the spokesperson, mentioned that the establishment of this hospital will require an investment of OMR45 million.
