Muscat: On Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry unveiled an e-services portal and a mobile application designed to incorporate technology into its diplomatic and consular operations.
This initiative aims to improve digital engagement, streamline access to consular services, and offer an interactive platform for citizens, residents, and visitors to connect with Omani embassies anytime and anywhere.
Khalid bin Hashel Al Muselhi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, who was the guest of honor at the launch event, stated to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the digitization of services underscores the ministry’s dedication to innovation and modernization, utilizing contemporary technology to enhance performance.
“The e-platform represents a significant advancement in enabling government entities, diplomatic missions, citizens, residents, and visitors to efficiently and reliably access consular and diplomatic services. It aims to simplify communication with Omani embassies globally,” Al Muselhi remarked.
Additionally, the new platform will allow government institutions and diplomatic missions to process transactions electronically. Relevant parties will now offer a comprehensive electronic payment system along with various options for service access.
The mobile application also facilitates the registration of traveler information and provides timely updates on consular and security matters, thereby improving user experience and ensuring prompt responses to any changes.
