Nizwa: Today marked the start of the first International Bariatric Surgery Club Conference in Nizwa.
This event has been organized in partnership with the International Bariatric Club, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Society of Oman, and Nizwa Hospital. It unites a diverse group of specialized doctors and experts from both Oman and other countries.
Dr. Badr Aflah Al Hadhrami, a Consultant in Bariatric and Upper GI Surgery at Khoula Hospital, described the conference's emphasis on important issues in bariatric surgery, the management of complications, and the provision of high-quality patient care in accordance with global innovations.
Dr. Hares Khawaja pointed out that the conference promotes practical learning through panel discussions and informative presentations led by international experts, which are designed to improve both the clinical skills and scientific knowledge of surgeons.
Dr. Khalid Said Al Amri, Consultant and Head of General Surgery at Nizwa Hospital, remarked that the involvement of experts from GCC nations, the UK, Egypt, and France adds an global aspect to the conference, promoting the exchange of knowledge and effective practices to enhance Oman’s healthcare system.
Dr. Osama Taha, a Professor of Surgery at Cairo University, underscored the importance of the conference as a scientific forum to discuss recent advancements in bariatric surgery and the management of complications, commending its role in fortifying professional networks and facilitating the sharing of medical expertise.
The schedule for the conference features scientific sessions that cover complications of gastric sleeve surgery and modern management strategies, along with intricate topics in bariatric surgery and open discussions with experts.
