Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) recently hosted a symposium centered around the concept of circular economy, with a specific focus on the recycling of plastic waste.
The primary objective of this event was to contribute to the preservation of nature and the planet, while also preventing any potential harm caused by the improper disposal of plastic waste.
Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kalbani, the Director General of Environmental Affairs at EA, emphasized that recycling plastic waste presents investment opportunities that are accessible to individuals across all economic levels. Through recycling initiatives, numerous small and medium-sized projects can be established.
During the symposium, Al Kalbani highlighted the significance of adopting the circular economy model, which aims to minimize waste and improve material efficiency through the implementation of policies, strategies, solutions, and advanced recycling technologies.
The event consisted of four sessions, which were attended by representatives from various public entities, academic institutions, research centers, private companies, and civil society organizations.
Furthermore, the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, the Chairman of the Environment Authority.
