Environment Authority Begins Planting Frankincense Trees

The General Directorate of Environment in Dhofar Governorate has commenced the initial phase of planting frankincense trees in the Mudam area's Frankincense Garden in Salalah. This effort is in line with the national initiative to plant 10 million trees and the goal of planting 60,000 wild trees this year.

The Frankincense Garden, located in the Mudam area, is one of several environmental parks established to safeguard the vital wild trees in the Dhofar Governorate. Spanning an impressive 181,000 square meters, the garden has the capacity to accommodate over 11,000 trees.

This collaborative initiative involves the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Nature Conservation Society, and the local community. Its primary objective is to enhance and expand vegetation cover as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat desertification and ensure the long-term preservation and sustainability of natural resources.
