Following the announcement of Eid al Fitr holidays, the entire nation was buzzing with excitement as people made elaborate preparations in the days leading up to the celebration. This involved shopping, planning outings, and for some, even making travel arrangements.
Maulid al Dhawi, an employee at a private-owned enterprise, expressed the importance of adequate preparations for Eid celebrations. "I have completed all my Eid shopping and now I am exploring different ways to make the most of the Eid break," he shared while looking into flight options for Zanzibar.
While Eid holidays are a time for travel, they are also significant social occasions where families and friends come together. Adel al Musallami, a resident of Al Ansab, expressed his excitement about celebrating Eid al Fitr with loved ones. "I am looking forward to a gathering of family and friends somewhere in Barka," he mentioned.
During the final days of Ramadhan, there is a significant increase in foot traffic at shops selling clothes, shoes, accessories, jewellery, and gift items, particularly after iftar.
Shopping centers and malls are enticing customers with special Eid promotions, prompting the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) to monitor markets for any irregularities.
The Muscat Municipality will also conduct inspection visits to commercial establishments, including restaurants, cafeterias, foodstuff shops, and slaughterhouses during Eid al Fitr.
On Thursday, shopping centers were bustling with individuals stocking up for Eid.
"We have been receiving a high number of customers since this morning. Customers are aware that they only have a few days left to shop before the Eid holidays," stated Ghaida Saeed, the owner of a women's dress shop in Ghubra.
Dressmakers and tailors are experiencing a surge in business during this period. "We have already served a considerable number of customers at our store and anticipate more business in the coming days."
