Muscat: On Monday, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) hosted an eCommerce forum themed "Ecommerce Amid Consumer Rights and Supplier Duties. "
The forum was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, and was chaired by Eng. Omar Hamdan Al Ismaili, Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The forum emphasized econsumer rights, the responsibilities and obligations of ecommerce licensees, ecommerce legislation, commercial fraud, and electronic fraud in the digital economy, as well as the role of government institutions in the eexperience.
The forum drew a big crowd of government and private institution officials, as well as an elite group of eCommerce experts and specialists, who stressed the importance of the event in promoting a safe and sound eCommerce culture.
The event featured a visual introductory display, which was followed by a presentation of an eshopping campaign. The presentation was given by Dr. Munira Al Fikry, the CPA's media expert.
The forum featured an exhibition of the authority's most significant electronic systems and applications for the e-shopping process. It also included the launch of an opinion poll to assess cognitive awareness.
On the sidelines of the forum, a public awareness campaign called Safe Shopping was launched. The campaign seeks to encourage the culture of safe shopping in the digital marketplace, in keeping with Oman Vision 2040, which places the economy and growth at the center of sustainable development plans and a technology-based economy.
The forum was part of a series of events connected with an ongoing "Safe Online Shopping Campaign" that seeks to increase community awareness, promote safe online shopping habits, ensure the creation of a fair and transparent digital consumer environment, and develop practical solutions to current challenges, as well as build a digital future that meets everyone's needs and aspirations.
