Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) today convened a dialogue session in Muscat with the objective of exploring strategies to augment investments by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within special economic zones and free zones.
The forum was designed to motivate entrepreneurs to share innovative proposals aimed at fostering the development of various economic sectors, enhancing the appeal of the business environment, and influencing policies that support SMEs.
The discussion covered topics such as providing additional support to SMEs through the facilitation of financing, the reduction of fees and licenses required within economic zones.
It is noteworthy that 545 SMEs are operational within special economic zones and free zones, engaging in 192 diverse activities.
The dialogue session was graced by the presence of Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidi, the Chairman of OPAZ, Halima Rashid Al Zar’ee, the Chairperson of ASMED, and representatives from the relevant parties, including the Industrial Innovation Academy and the Development Bank.
