Muscat: The total number of visitors to the Dhofar Khareef, from its inception until the conclusion of August 2024, has reached approximately 1.6635 million, marking a 9 percent rise from the previous season in 2023, which saw 924,127 tourists in attendance.
The figures provided by the National Centre for Statistics and Information indicate a notable increase in both Omani and foreign visitor numbers. Omani visitors have seen a surge of 8.7 percent, with a total of 713,105 individuals crossing the border. Conversely, visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries have seen a slight decrease, with a total of 171,762 individuals compared to the previous year's figure of 156,953. Visitors from other nationalities have also seen a slight increase, rising to 121,767 from 111,055 last year.
In terms of modes of transportation, the number of visitors arriving by land has reached 786,107 by the end of August, with an additional 220,528 visitors arriving by air, marking a 5.2 percent increase from the previous year's air travel arrivals during the same period. It is also important to note that August accounted for 59 percent of the total visitors for the year.
