Muscat: On Sunday, the Committee for the Development of Wakan Village, situated in Wadi Mustal within the Wilayat of Nakhal, convened a meeting led by Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashimi, the Governor of South Al Batinah. The agenda focused on the latest advancements in the project, which encompasses the road route, water supply systems, and tourism initiatives, including guest accommodations and mountain trails.
Wakan Village has garnered the attention of the tourism department due to its exceptional natural characteristics and stunning landscapes, establishing it as a unique tourist attraction that draws visitors from both within and outside the Sultanate.
Located at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level, Wakan Village is about 150 kilometers from Muscat. The access road is marked by valleys, necessitating the use of four-wheel drive vehicles for travel.
The development initiative aims to bolster the village's tourism infrastructure, enhance accessibility, and promote eco-friendly hospitality projects and mountain trails, thereby solidifying its status as a comprehensive eco-tourism destination that supports the local tourism industry.
