Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Blair House in Washington DC on Thursday, where they engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration between Indian and US organizations in areas such as innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
Musk, who leads the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was joined by three of his children during the meeting. PM Modi expressed his pleasure in meeting Musk's family and shared insights on various topics via a post on X.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to interact with Musk's children.
During their conversation, PM Modi highlighted India's commitment to the principle of 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.' He stated, "Had a very productive meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We explored a range of topics, including his interests in space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I emphasized India's ongoing reforms to promote 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance,'" as noted in his post on X.
According to a release from the Prime Minister's Office, the discussions included ways to bolster cooperation between Indian and US entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
The release further indicated that their dialogue also covered opportunities to enhance collaboration in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and effective governance, with Musk's family members present during the meeting.
The meeting occurred prior to Prime Minister Modi's discussions with US President Donald Trump.
US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz also met with Prime Minister Modi.
"The conversations explored avenues to enhance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, concentrating on strategic technologies, defense industrial collaboration, and civil nuclear energy, particularly small modular reactors, along with counterterrorism efforts. Additionally, they addressed various international and regional matters of shared concern.
This marks Prime Minister Modi's inaugural visit to the United States since President Trump began his second term.
