Dani Ceballos Another Midfield Injury Setback For Real Madrid

MADRID: Real Madrid is set to be without midfielder Dani Ceballos for a duration ranging from six to two months, following the announcement that he has sustained an ankle injury during the 2-0 victory at home against Betis on Sunday.

"Following comprehensive medical examinations conducted by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Dani Ceballos, it has been determined that he has suffered a grade 3 sprain, accompanied by ligament damage to his right ankle. His recovery will be closely monitored," the club's official website has confirmed.

This injury arrives at a particularly challenging time, with Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga both sidelined and expected to return to the field by the end of September, having suffered from muscle injuries and ligament damage to the knee, respectively. Furthermore, it will leave Carlo Ancelotti in a position of scarcity in the central midfield position following the international break.

Ceballos sustained the injury during his debut of the new season, having played only six minutes in Real Madrid's initial three La Liga matches and the European Super Cup against Atalanta.

He was replaced by Brahim Diaz in the 65th minute of the match and left the field without any apparent signs of injury.

Should Ceballos make a full recovery within six weeks, he is anticipated to miss approximately seven matches, with five of those being La Liga games and two being Champions League matches. However, if his recovery process extends beyond this timeframe, it is likely that he will miss an additional number of matches.
