Muscat: Today, the Council of Ministers convened a joint meeting with the Shura Council at the Council of Ministers' headquarters.
HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, welcomed Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council, along with members of the Shura Council’s Office.
This meeting was held to reinforce the ongoing collaboration among various state institutions, in accordance with the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
The discussions aimed to establish shared perspectives that support the comprehensive development efforts in the Sultanate of Oman.
At the beginning of the meeting, HH Sayyid praised the Shura Council's constructive contributions. He emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Shura Council on all matters that advance national objectives, noting that addressing the proposals from the Council of Oman is a top priority for the Council of Ministers. These proposals are integral to the economic and social plans and programs.
Subsequently, HH Sayyid Fahd highlighted several areas that could improve coordination with the Shura Council.
The meeting underscored the government's focus on initiatives designed to empower the Shura Council in fulfilling its responsibilities.
In alignment with this strategy, the service ministers address the requests of the Shura Council by providing ministerial statements to its members concerning the government's initiatives to implement the state's overarching policies. Additionally, the Shura Council invites government officials to engage in discussions about matters related to the administrative and occupational functions of their respective government units.
To effectively address the proposals put forth by the Shura Council members, the Council of Ministers has sanctioned that relevant government departments present visual reports to the Shura Council, showcasing their efforts to enhance performance across all economic sectors.
The joint meeting examined various topics related to collaboration with the government and emphasized the mission of raising awareness to accurately represent national efforts. It also underscored the significance of the ministerial coordination committee between the Council of Ministers and the Shura Council, which aims to improve services for citizens.
In response, the Chairman of the Shura Council and members of the Council’s Office praised the outcomes of the meeting. They expressed gratitude towards the government and its visionary leadership, reaffirming their commitment to continue working towards the nation's advancement and prosperity.
